Meet George
Warning: this post contains multiple references to poop. Non-parents, proceed with caution. Parents, read on; this is nothing new to you.
Everyone, say hi to George:
So, Clara may not have been the hardest child ever to fully potty train, but she's certainly up near the top. In a fit of desperation a few weeks ago, I promised her a fish just like her friend's if she would just poop in the toilet. Four-and-a-half years of changing poopy diapers will do that to you. She finally did it, and we are now completely pull-up free. And of course, she remembered that rash promise I made and has held me to it. Last night we made a trip to the pet store to pick up her new little friend. Today she informed me that she'll be getting a second fish next week. Um, no.
Unless we prove ourselves to be incompetent fish handlers. Which is quite possible. Then she just might get a second fish next week. Wish us all luck.

Beautiful fish. May George have a long and healthy life. Good luck.
good luck! We won some goldfish at bunco and I've succeeded only in my ability to purchase replacement fish. I gave up after four trips to walmart and six fish later. I hope george lasts longer than jacks 1,2,& 3 and bunco 1,2,&3. Glad Clara's finally there! If your kids are anything like mine, this means Anna will be ready to potty train in a few months. Palmer was 3.5 and Portia was 20 months. See you in august!
Good parenting = Good bribery. The joys of little children.
hilarious! i love that he is named george :) and my method of parenting is, whatever works! great idea!
it all begins innocently enough with fish
but pets beware - lead to dogs
Okay, so just buy Anna a fish and she'll be set! ;>) Congrats, Clara! And Kristin! What a relief!
